BORDON’S One Stop convenience store was targeted in a suspected ram raid in the early hours of Boxing Day.

Reports of the raid began circulating online shortly after 2am on December 26, after neighbours were woken up by the sound of “shutters being kicked in” and the store’s alarm sounding.

Police were reportedly quick to the scene in Ennerdale Road, but apparently not fast enough to catch the thieves who “were long gone before the police arrived”, according to one nearby resident.

As dawn broke, a photo was shared on the Bordon & Whitehill Community Board on Facebook showing a huge hole in the rear of the supermarket and masonry scattered across the road.

Will Sheppard, who took the photo, said it looked like a vehicle had been used to smash through the wall into the supermarket's stock room.

He added it is "at least" the tenth time One Stop has been a victim of serious crime in the four and a half years he has lived in Bordon, and the supermarket remained closed on Thursday morning.

It is unclear what was taken in the raid, and the cash machine at the front of the store remains intact.

The Herald has asked Hampshire Constabulary for a statement.
