A MAN has been arrested in connection with a fatal collision in Farnham last week.
Officers were called to Crondall Lane shortly before 10pm last Friday (December 7) after the discovery of a man’s body.
An 18-year-old man from Midhurst, West Sussex, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, causing death by driving without insurance, failing to stop following an injury road traffic collision, and failing to report a road traffic collision.
He has been released under investigation while the police continue their enquiries.
Officers investigating the fatal incident have since confirmed the victim was a local man in his 40s, adding that they are “keeping an open mind” about the events leading up to his death.
Sergeant Jamie Dann, of Surrey Police, said: “Thank you to those who have come forward with information so far. I am still looking to speak to every pedestrian and driver that used Crondall Lane - a narrow country road that joins Farnham town to Dippenhall - on Friday night between 9pm and 9.50pm, in order to understand further the course of events that led to this man’s death.
“I’d also reiterate our appeal for drivers to come forward with their dashcam and helmet cam footage, in case there is something there that could assist our investigation.”
Anyone with who saw the accident, or who has any information, should call Surrey Police on 101 (999 in an emergency) or visit surrey.police.uk/ReportIt, quoting reference PR/45180130455.
