A murder investigation has been launched after the body of a woman was found at an address in Ash on Thursday evening.

Officers were called to a property in Church View at around 5.50pm by the South East Coast Ambulance Service following a concern for safety.

On arrival, a woman in her 50s was found dead inside the property.

An investigation, led by Surrey and Sussex’s Major Crime Team, is now underway to establish the circumstances of the woman’s death and enquiries remain ongoing.

A 61-year-old woman and 64-year-old man were arrested last night in connection with this investigation and both remain in custody.

The family of the victim are being supported by specially trained officers.

Guildford Borough Commander, Inspector Blaine Rafferty said: “The investigation is in the early stages as we work to establish the cause and circumstances around this death, however we do not believe there is any risk to the wider public.

“We have a dedicated team of investigators working on this case and specialist forensic officers remain at the scene. I would like to thank local residents for their cooperation as we conduct our investigation, and we will provide further updates as the investigation progresses.”
