ALRESFORD’s Thursday market will grow to ten stalls from next week, with the return of the town’s Brocante market also penned in for May 3.

Weekly markets have continued throughout the winter lockdown in Broad Street, but selling food only.

With the relaxation of Covid rules, there will be a more diverse offering at the Thursday, April 12 market, open from 7.30am to 11.30am.

Alresford’s Thursday market is run by the Hampshire Country Markets Society, offering home-cooked cakes and pies, bread, free-range eggs, plants, produce, crafts and more.

The New Alresford Town Trust has also ordered a memorial bench to be dedicated to former trustee Pam Stevens at a ceremony on June 27 by MP Steve Brine on the Avenue.

And Alresford’s recently-refurbished Eel House and town museum will both welcome visitors again from May 31.

Robin Atkins, chair of the trust, said: “We have survived during a very trying Covid-restricted year but are now in position to take on events.”
