Children from St Lawrence CE Primary School and visitors to The Dementia Café meet at Alton Community Centre twice a week for the Intergenerational Games.

Kate Powell, Alton’s Anna Chaplain for Older People, helped set up the partnership which sees groups of Year 5 and 6 pupils take part in music, crafts and games with their older friends.

St Lawrence headteacher Fiona Micklefield said: “The children absolutely love going to the café each week and really enjoy their time there.

“It is such a privilege to see the joy that this connection between both generations brings.”

Dementia Friendly Alton co-ordinator Karen Murrell added: “Our members really look forward to the pupils attending. It creates such a relaxed environment when they can share an activity and enjoy the moment.”
