Alton Branch Labour Party members and officers joined more than 50 Communication Workers Union staff on a picket line in Alton to show solidarity with them in their dispute with Royal Mail.

The union announced another 19 strike days between now and December after postal workers were given a two per cent pay rise and heard Royal Mail intended to withdraw from key national agreements.

Alton Labour chair Ian Abbott said: “British people expressed their support for key workers such as posties during the pandemic and this is how the Royal Mail and government reward them.”
