POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was assaulted in Whitehill.

The attack occurred at around 6pm on Sunday when the 38-year-old victim was cycling north on Liphook Road.

As he signalled to turn right, a vehicle drove past him at great speed, which angered the victim enough to shout at the car.

But the driver stopped his vehicle, got out and ran over to the victim and grabbed him around his neck.

The man police want to speak to is described as white, aged around 25, approximately 5ft 10ins tall and of average build.

Pc Adrian Collisson said: "I am appealing for witnesses to this incident which took place in Liphook Road, Whitehill, near the junction of Forest Road. The location is a busy road linking Whitehill to Passfield and Liphook.

"I would urge anyone with any information to come forward and speak to us and help us find the person responsible."
