A Headley resident has turned to the planning inspector after losing a bid to extend a farm building.

James Hewitt lost an application in April 2023 to add a large extension to a barn at Sandhill Farm off Picketts Hill.

The proposals included solar panels on the roof and engineering works to accommodate ground source heat facilities.

While planning officers at East Hampshire District Council support the use of on-site renewable energy, they felt an existing barn could accommodate the green infrastructure without the need for an extension.

An appeal has been launched and will be determined by way of written representations, with April 17 being the final day for comments or changes to previous submissions.

A separate application which could lead to a nearby farm building being converted into five properties was also submitted last spring.
