POLICE are appealing for information following an armed robbery in Bordon.
Around 6.40pm on Saturday, a man with his face covered entered One Stop, off Ennerdale Road, with what appeared to be a black handgun and demanded that staff hand over cash from the tills.
A quantity of cash - thought to be hundreds of pounds - and other items were handed over by a staff member before the culprit fled on foot. No-one was injured during the raid.
The man was said to be dressed in dark clothing and described as a white male about 5ft 9ins tall and of slim build.
Det Sgt Nicki Blackmun said that armed robberies like this were rare, and urged anyone with any information to get in contact with the police.
“This is a very unusual incident and it has obviously left those who were inside the store very shocked but thankfully uninjured,” she added.
“We know there were several customers in the store at the time and we are particularly keen to speak to all of them because they may be able to assist us with our investigation. We know that he initially left on foot, so we also want to speak to anyone who saw someone matching the description in the surrounding area that evening.
“We would like to reassure the community that incidents like this are rare and we will be carrying out extra patrols in the area.”
Anyone with information should call Det Sgt Blackmun on 101, quoting 44160074442, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
