BORDON Infant School welcomed author duo Sue Hendra and Paul Linnet to talk all things books.

The visit to the Budds Lane school was arranged by the Hampshire School Library Service and involved children from Bordon Infant, Weyford Primary and St Lawrence Primary (Alton) schools.

Sue and Paul, the brains behind Barry The Fish With Fingers and No-Bot: The Robot With No Bottom, acted out one of their latest books Supertato: Run Veggies Run for the primary school children.

They also talked to the children about being an author, from where they get inspiration for their stories and they even shed some light on early concepts of their character Supertato.

The authors spent more than an hour with the children, reading stories, singing songs and answering questions.

After the session, children had the opportunity to have their copies of the authors’ books signed.

In the afternoon, Bordon Infant pupils went back to class where they wrote and illustrated their own stories in the style of Sue and Paul.

They designed their own vegetable superheroes and came up with alternate endings for some of the pair’s books.

“We were really pleased to have had the opportunity to host such fantastic authors as Sue and Paul,” Bordon Infant School headteacher Matt Greenhalgh said.

“The children had an amazing time and it was one of those days that they will look back on in years to come and remember.

“Sue and Paul made the writing they do seem so much fun, and this sense of fun and creativity really inspired the children.

“The children went on to produce some fantastic ideas for stories and I am sure we have some budding future authors in our midst.

“Sue and Paul were really great with the children and we are so grateful that they came all this way and gave up so much of their time.”
