THE NFU is urging road users to be careful and considerate to one another as harvest gets under way.

NFU South East crops board chairman Matt Culley says: “This year rural roads seem to be busier than ever because haymaking is late and now harvest is underway as well.

“It’s a case of give and take – everyone has a right to be on the roads so it’s important to be considerate and courteous to one another.

“Please be patient if you find yourself driving behind a slow moving tractor, a combine harvester or a cultivator. Remember farmers are working around the clock to deliver your daily bread and to produce food for livestock.”

Mr Culley added: “The NFU is also reminding its farmer members to check their mirrors frequently and to pull over if they see a queue building up behind them.”
