EAST Hampshire’s Celebration of Volunteering Awards return in November and are open for nominations, in their bid to recognise the hard work and dedication of local volunteers.
Organised by Community First and East Hampshire District Council (EHDC), the awards will not only recognise the time and energy given by volunteers to organisations across the district but will provide an opportunity to celebrate the enthusiasm of those who make such a difference to the lives of so many.
Any group or organisation operating in the voluntary and community sector across the district can make nominations. The categories are Young Volunteer of the Year, Small Team of the Year, Large Team of the Year, Unsung Hero, Special Commendation, and Lifetime Achievement.
Julie Butler, deputy leader of EHDC and portfolio holder for welfare and communities, said: “It’s really important that we give back to the people who do so much for our district. These people do what they do out of the kindness of their hearts, not for reward or recognition, but these awards give us a fantastic opportunity to let them know how much we appreciate their hard work and celebrate their achievements.
“Volunteers really do make East Hampshire a better place to live, and for that they deserve our appreciation.”
This year’s awards ceremony will take place at the Old Thorns Manor Hotel in Liphook on November 8, and the deadline for nominations is 5pm on Tuesday, October 2.
