YOUNGSTERS enjoyed the snow on Saturday at the Headley Down Nature Reserve after the Beast from the East brought heavy snowfalls last Thursday and Friday.
Mill Chase Academy secondary school, in Bordon, managed to battle through last Thursday but closed its doors on Friday.
Hampshire County Council leader Roy Perry praised the county’s farming community for diverting their farmers and tractors to work with the council’s highways department to keep “the entire main-road network and priority routes to hospitals and other essential services open”. In the event of future snow, Mr Perry said: “We have placed stocked community salt bins in thousands of residential streets, near schools, and in town and village areas.
“These are ready for people to help the collective effort to keep public footpaths free of ice and snow.”
