A few days of dry weather meant Kings Farm in Binsted was able to harvest its wheat crop in good time.

Judith Stephens of the farm said: “Combine harvesters have developed into the most amazing, powerful machines, with sat nav, hands-free steering, air conditioning, two-way radio, even a fridge!

“The tractors backing them up to collect the grain are not far behind with all the latest technology. Farming generally is so fully mechanised and computerised, it’s an enormously interesting career for those interested in science and technology. Feeding the nation – what more important job can there be?”
