ALTON Convent School students celebrated national biology week by hosting a visit from Mike Hill, manger and trainer at Hill Top Birds of Prey at Ross on Wye, Herefordshire, and four native birds of prey.

The senior school biologists enjoyed a fascinating talk by Mr Hill and learned about the behavioural and feeding habits of the accompanying barn owl, little owl, tawny owl, and the common buzzard.

The students from the Anstey Road school were treated to a flight display with the birds in action flying to collect food from different stations in the laboratory and were able to take turns at holding each bird, enabling them to study the eyes and feathers of these magnificent creatures up close.
