THE WHITEHILL & Bordon Community Trust has thanked the people of the town for making Building 94 a success.

This youth facility in Budds Lane hosted a wide range of activities for children and teenagers run by Sport4Kids during the Easter school holiday.

They tried roller skating, boxing, pottery throwing, T-shirt design and printing, graffiti painting, music and drumming workshops, played pool and air hockey, did arts and crafts, and ran around outside.

Trust marketing officer Thomas Hiller said: “A huge thank you to Mercers Gym for providing boxing sessions, Sarah Metcalfe for T-shirt design and printing, Bordon Roller Rink, Dolly Pots for providing Building 94’s very own great pottery throwdown, Georgie Leigh for graffiti sessions, and Tom Rowland and Shannon Stoner for their music and drumming sessions.

“We would also like to thank the fabulous food providers at The Shed – Stuff’d, Acorn Coffee and Cake, 350 Burger and Shack – for providing fantastic food for everyone across the week.”

Mr Hiller felt Building 94 had gone down well with the youth of Whitehill & Bordon.

He said: “The feedback from the people who attended has been overwhelmingly positive.

“The main comments were that they enjoyed hanging out with friends and meeting new people; the adults were cool; the building is cool – different spaces and areas mean that they had choices on what they could do.

“In addition, they enjoyed the activities on offer – particularly boxing, pottery and graffiti.

“The aim with Building 94 is to launch a youth group which Sport4Kids will run; more details are to come very soon.

“This will be alongside their holiday activity sessions, which will return over the May half-term and summer holidays.”

The trust formed a youth committee in early 2020 with the intention of developing a youth facility, and Building 94 – originally the Army post room and sorting office – was identified as a suitable location.

It surveyed the town’s children to find out what activities they wanted, renovated the building and negotiated a five-year lease. Sport4Kids then approached the trust last year to provide activities.
