CLARENDON Fine Art has opened a gallery in Haslemere High Street.

The Clarendon Fine Art brand is part of the world’s most prestigious gallery group, showcasing the finest British and international contemporary artists.

After more than 30 years at the forefront of the international fine art market, the group represents a portfolio of award winners and new discoveries.

Clarendon’s flagship gallery opened in 2010 on Mayfair’s Dover Street.

Haslemere gallery manager Laura Brown said: "The Haslemere gallery presents a snapshot of the Clarendon portfolio and will be forever changing according to tastes and trends.

"We are delighted to be able to show a wide spectrum of styles and genres across unique original works and collectable contemporary editions."

Cllr Simon Dear, the mayor of Haslemere, was invited to attend the opening. He said: "There are a lot of interesting things going on in the town at the moment.

"We have a new restaurant at one end of the High Street, the hotel is coming back to life and now we’re welcoming Clarendon Fine Art Gallery to one of the best sites in town.

"Clarendon have more than 20 galleries in places like Mayfair, Chelsea, Covent Garden, Marlow and Hampstead and it’s a great statement of confidence in our area they’ve chosen Haslemere for their newest venture.

"The team at the gallery are all locals with an understanding of what interests people in this area and they reported a terrific response in their first week of being open.

"As locals, they’re also keen to involve the gallery in the life of the wider community, which is very welcome.

"I wish them good luck and much success."
