A HASLEMERE woman is on a mission to help people cook authentic Indian cuisine.

Manika Sikand is running cookery classes through her business Manika’s Indian Kitchen, which delivered hundreds of authentic Indian dishes to homes during lockdown.

“So many of these customers were developing their interest in cookery while stuck in lockdown mode,” said Manika.

“They repeatedly asked for cooking tips, which we gladly shared. After lockdown there was still lots of interest, so we decided to launch Indian cookery classes locally.

“Like my mother back in the 1960s, I am passionate about sharing authentic Indian cuisine with others.

“She blessed my siblings and I with authentic north Indian food.

“It was nutritious, fresh, bursting with fragrance and flavour. And there was lots of it – always made from scratch with fresh ingredients.

“Our mission at Manika’s Indian Kitchen is to replace shop-bought meals, sauces and oily restaurant curries with authentic Indian dishes bursting with flavours and aromas.”
