An art space and café in Petersfield is putting plant-based food in the frame after joining forces with a Hampshire kitchen.
Gallery No30 and Shroom Kitchen are serving up plant-based roast dinners to people who fancy something a little different for their Sunday lunch.
Diners can tuck into individual wellingtons, homemade plant-base ‘lamb’ cutlets, cauliflower ‘cheeze’ and other trimmings during the pop-up, held on the last Sunday of every month.
Chef Lucy Bridgewater is the founder of the “Shroom on Sunday” pop-up which has built a loyal following since being launched at the Keppel’s Head Hotel in Portsmouth. She began looking for a permanent Petersfield venue after selling out at town’s vegan market last year.
She said: “Shroom on Sunday was created by vegans, for vegans, in recognition of how difficult it can be to find a Sunday roast with all the trimmings.
“I believe everyone should be able to enjoy cauliflower cheeze and Yorkshire puddings!
“We wanted to create something comforting, indulgent and worth leaving the house for whether you’re vegan, vegetarian or simply curious about plant-based food.”
Gallery No30 owner, Nadine Travis, loved the idea of bringing Lucy’s innovative roasts to Petersfield.
She said: “Petersfield has a strong foodie community that loves trying something new, and independent hospitality businesses need to support fresh talent and creative ideas.
“Lucy shares our values around homemade food and quality ingredients. I’ve worked in catering for over 30 years and you can immediately tell when somebody genuinely loves what they do.
“Creating a fully plant-based Sunday roast menu from scratch is no easy task.”
The collaboration reflects growing demand for high-quality plant-based dining experiences outside major cities, while also bringing together two independent Hampshire businesses focused on creativity, community and accessible food culture.
The next Shroom on Sunday takes place this Sunday (June 28) from 12.30pm to 4.30pm with more pop-ups expected throughout the year.
