FOLLOWING last week’s incident on the Ham Barn roundabout, which saw a lorry overturn, town, district and county councillor Adam Carew has called on Highways England to change the A3 junction.

Just after 8am last Thursday, police were called to an overturned lorry on the A3 northbound at the roundabout - a spot known for its traffic hold-ups. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries.

“This is not the first time lorries have overturned at Ham Barn,” Mr Carew said. “The idea of putting a roundabout here rather than a flyover was ludicrous. Surely having sorted out the Hindhead Tunnel it is now it is time for the Highways Agency (now Highways England) to go back to the drawing board and find a safer solution here for all.”
