On October 12 BEAR Petworth will host ceramics experts from Maak Contemporary Ceramics.

Marijke Varrall-Jones, who started her career in the fine art auction world in West Sussex 24 years ago, founded Maak in 2009.

Visitors can meet Marijke and her colleague Frances Robinson to have their pieces of studio ceramics valued and hear how the market has grown over the last 20 years.

There have been many record prices reached by studio ceramic works recently, including £240,000 for UCA chancellor Magdalene Odundo’s amazing pot (pictured) in November 2020. In November 2021, 28 world records were reached in one auction.

Marijke will be delighted to tell visitors all about it.
