THREE sports centres in East Hampshire will be taking part in the world’s biggest charity swimathon next week.

The three-day swim, from April 27-29, will raise money for Cancer Research and Marie Curie.

And particpants can swim at Alton Sports Centre, Mill Chase Leisure Centre in Bordon, and Petersfield’s Taro Leisure Centre.

Over the last 31 years, more than half a million people across the UK have taken part in the world’s biggest charity swim event, which has raised more than £48m for good causes.

Everyone Active, which runs the centre with East Hampshire District Council, is encouraging people to dive into fundraising by making a splash in their pools to complete the challenge.

New for 2018, participants have the option of swimming 400m. The distance is perfect for beginners or for those who haven’t swum in a while but still want to do their bit for charity. There is also the option of swimming 1.5k, 2.5k or 5k as an individual or 1.5k or 5k as part of a team.
