People in a village near Alton seem to be cleaning up their act judging by the results of a litter pick.

Around 20 community-minded residents donned their high visibility jackets and gave Chawton a weekend clean-up.

Volunteers filled plenty of bags during the October 14 event but parish councillor Ilena Allsop was encouraged.

She said: “We had a good turnout from village residents who managed to collect a lot less rubbish than we collected six months ago.”
