CHILDREN and teachers at The Holme Primary School in Headley dressed up as their favourite literary characters to mark World Book Day.
Debbi Knights, teaching assistant of the school on Openfields, dressed up as Cruella De Vil from 101 Dalmatians. She said: “My favourite part of the day was seeing all the beautiful costumes.”
Headteacher Ruth Worswick, who dressed up as a crocodile, said: “It is always so much fun to dress up and I love The Enormous Crocodile story by Roald Dahl.”
She joked: “Also, I love eating children.”
Costumes ranged from crayons to ninjas, and knights to witches, with some bought and some homemade.
Ms Worswick told pupils: “I like World Book Day. Some people think of it as just a big dressing-up day but I love reading and so it’s lovely to have a day all about books.”
Next year will be the 20th anniversary of World Book Day.
