HUNDREDS of enthusiasts made their way to the Mid Hants Railway on Monday and Tuesday for the annual ‘Christmas Leave’ experience on the Watercress Line.

Many were dressed in 1940s costume as they joined civilian and military re-enactors as they re-created the atmosphere of a Second World War Christmas on the railway.

With music, song, dance and seasonal merriment, they were able to hop on and off the steam engine at all four stations along the line between Alton and Alresford, to enjoy the traditional period entertainment.
