THE Waverley Singers host their first concert of the season at St Lawrence Church in Alton next week.

Starting at 7.30pm on November 14, the main work will be Haydn’s Nelson Mass, followed by four short pieces with a Remembrance flavour – Harris’ Faire is the Heaven, Elgar’s For the Fallen, Ireland’s Greater Love, and Vaughan Williams’ Psalm 90 (Lord Thou Hast Been Our Refuge).

The soloists will be soprano Gemma Summerfield, who won this year’s prestigious Kathleen Ferrier competition, Hannah Poulsom, Wagner Moreira, and Huw Montague Rendall, who sang in the Waverley Singers’ opera gala at the Maltings last March.
