WITH the proceeds of their summer fete and with grants from local councillor Yvonne Parker Smith and housing association Radian, Lindford Parish Council was able to hand over a cheque for £1,500 to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance at the Village Hall on Wednesday last week.
The presentation was made by council chairman Derek Barr, and received on behalf of the service by one of their volunteers, Norman Figg.
After thanking them he gave a short talk on the work of the air ambulance service.
Parish clerk Steve Holden said they had been pleased their summer fete - which they now hoped to make an annual event as it helped to bring the community together - had been a success and they were able to help the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance service.
Mr Holden said of the service: “It seems to be becoming something of a Lindford charity as our pub The Royal Exchange also supports them and has set themselves a £10,000 target to raise for the service.
“It is a service we like to support as, sadly, the air ambulance is a frequent flyer over Lindford because of the A31.
“Also we have had accidents here which has meant them landing in the village.”
