Alton Choral Society raised more than £850 for Naomi House and Jacksplace with its Reflective Music for Good Friday concert at Alton Methodist Church on April 3.
Directed by Wendy Busby with accompaniment from Jane Palmer, the choir performed Fauré’s Requiem - with solos by Andrew Berkley and Wendy Busby - and Cantique de Jean Racine.
Alison Crow joined Wendy for Mendelssohn’s I Waited For The Lord, accompanied by Patrick Busby on piano. Kathy Starkey played John Rutter’s Lament For The Holy City on flute, also accompanied by Patrick.
The society’s next concert, featuring famous opera choruses and arias, is at Alton Methodist Church on June 27 at 7pm, in aid of Alton Foodbank.
Tickets, priced £12 (under-16s free), are available from www.altonchoral.org.uk or at the door.
