Alton town mayor Cllr Annette Eyre and Alton Town Council administration and councillor support officer Samantha Brown abseiled down the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth on Saturday.

They were raising money for the mayor’s charity, St Michael’s Hospice in Basingstoke, which gives care and support to people with life-limiting illnesses plus comfort and guidance to their families.

A town council spokesperson said: “A massive well done to Annette and Samantha.

“St Michael’s Hospice’s work makes a real difference, ensuring that no-one has to face these challenges alone. If you would like to sponsor them, you can donate at www.justgiving.com/page/annette-eyre-1.”

Annette and Samantha said: “By supporting our fundraiser, you’re helping St Michael’s Hospice continue delivering compassionate care and essential services to those who need it most.”
