WHITEHILL town councillors this week told their East Hampshire district counterparts that developer contributions generated close to Bordon should be spent closer to home. The comments came in response to the district council's consultation on section-106 money being used to fund Alton's new sports centre, with town councillors describing the possibility of encroaching on Bordon for the cash as "unfair" and "deeply concerning". The district council agreed, in May, that contributions from new developments within a 10-minute drive from Alton could end up in the pot for the town's new sports centre. They also agreed that a flat payment of £10,000 per house for sites above 10 homes would be suitable for the scheme. For full story, see this week's Bordon Herald.
