ALTON Convent has chalked up another successful year of academic results, with students achieving a 100 per cent pass rate at A-Level.

According to headteacher Graham Maher, more than half the students received top A*-B grades and the overwhelming majority sailed into their first-choice university to read a breadth of subjects from international relations, business studies and nursing to history and the history of art.

Of particular note were the straight A*-A grades secured by Charity Culley, Isabel Lanyon and Charlotte Walton.

BTEC results were also strong with 80 per cent of students achieving distinction stars.

Equally impressive was a 100 per cent A*-B pass rate for the Extended Project Qualification, as these results can be critical in accruing UCAS points for students’ university applications.

In expressing his delight at the results across the board, Mr Maher paid tribute to the “terrific effort” put in by the girls who have “striven to be the best that they could be”.

And he added: “This sets an excellent standard as we look forward to welcoming our first cohort of boys to the sixth form of Alton School in September 2018.”
