AMID controversy surrounding the funeral of Headley Down man Robert Miles, East Hampshire District Council leader Ferris Cowper has wondered whether his death could have been prevented. Mr Miles, 43, died on Saturday, May 31, when his car collided with a telegraph pole on the B3002 Headley Road. This week Mr Cowper, district and county councillor for Headley and Grayshott, said the accident "raises terribly serious issues" about road safety, asking: "Could all of us in local government have saved Rob's life?"
