A grant of £7,272 from East Hampshire District Council has helped to pay for the new Bradbury Learning Centre at Treloar School and College in Holybourne.

This facility has been designed to support students with physical disabilities. It includes innovative spaces such as an Immersive Zone, which uses interactive projections, scents and virtual reality to create engaging multi-sensory learning environments.

An esports area helps teach students important life skills such as teamwork and communication, a library features devices able to read books aloud, there are green screen facilities, and robotics help students learn and play.

The grant came from the council’s Supporting Communities Fund. Cllr Adeel Shah, the portfolio holder for community development and engagement, said: “This is an amazing facility that will make a huge difference to the education and experience the students get at Treloar’s.

“I am proud that we have been able to play our part in making this project a reality and bring this fantastic hi-tech equipment to the school and college.”

East Hampshire District Council chairman Cllr Graham Hill said: “The Bradbury Learning Centre is an incredible place full of innovative and interesting kit to help students engage with their surroundings and experience new things.

“The Immersive Zone was an amazing experience, I wish we had had something like this when I was at school.”

Dan, a college student, said: “I enjoy the variety of activities on offer in the Bradbury Learning Centre, but my favourite thing is the immersive learning room. I like it because it has something for everyone, it’s a good way to learn and it is fun.

"The opportunities for teamwork, hand skills, co-ordination and reading help me learn and it’s easier to learn about something when you can experience it. The Bradbury Learning Centre makes me feel relaxed, happy, calm and like I want to have fun.”
