THE former chairman of Whitehill Town Council, David Williamson, stormed out of the council's chamber on Monday, saying he was resigning in protest that members had agreed to put up next year's council-tax precept by more than its finance committee had recommended - which could mean a rise in taxpayers' bills.
Councillor Keith Cooper followed him, also threatening to resign, but changed his mind and returned, saying: "It is better I stay. I can do more about this."
