AN Alton company which sells Union Jack doormats has defended itself.
East Worldham resident Robert Sinclair was "absolutely sickened" when a leaflet advertising the Alton Home Hardware product came through his letterbox.
"This I consider antipatriotic and in very poor taste," he said. "It just goes to show how standards have slipped in this country."
Selborne resident Peter Ingram also received the flyer. He gasped: "What a shock to receive, in my letterbox, a flyer from Alton Home Hardware advertising for sale a union flag doormat, for people to wipe their boots on.
"I find this disrespectful, disgraceful and disgusting."
