A group of dog lovers will be hosting a jumble sale in the garden of The Cricketers pub at Kingsley next month to raise funds for the Give a Dog a Home rescue charity.

This small organisation is based in the Surrey, Hampshire, Sussex, Kent area and since its inception in 2013 has saved 420 dogs. They come mainly from Greece, Romania and Cyprus, often from appalling conditions and facing a death sentence.

Give a Dog a Home can’t afford kennels in the South East so has a network of around 10 fosterers where the dogs learn to adjust to the home environment, recover from malnourishment and anxieties, and learn how to be a companion so that they are ready to be adopted by their forever families.

New fosterers, as well as transporters and fundraisers, are always needed. For more details or to get involved, visit giveadogahome.org.uk/dogs-for-adoption.

There are currently around 20 Give a Dog a Home canines happily homed in the Herald circulation area.

The Jumble Sale at The Cricketers runs from 12-2 pm on Saturday, August 12. More jumble and bric-a-brac would be appreciated. To donate, call 01420 477217.

• The Cricketers will be running a motor treasure hunt in early September in aid of Give a Dog a Home and Battersea Dogs Home.
