TWO homeless men have been handed prison sentences after a series of motoring and theft offences while on drugs in Lindford, Portsmouth and Liss.

North Hampshire magistrates sentenced Ashley Austin, 31, of no fixed abode, to 26 weeks in prison after driving under the influence of drugs and failing to provide a blood sample.

At Aldershot Magistrates Cout on Friday, January 4, Austin pleaded guilty to stealing a VW car in Hill Brow Road, Liss, and driving without insurance or a licence.

He was disqualified from holding a licence for 36 months.

Austin also admitted to breaking into Lindford Wor-king Men's Club on Nov-ember 14.

A second man, James Hunniset, 27, who also plea-ded guilty, was sentenced to 23 weeks in jail for being in possession of a knife in Hill Brow Road, and stealing a laptop, a camera and tools from a flat in Portsmouth.

Charges relating to a stolen car in Lindford were later dropped.

The court heard that the men were taking drugs together on November 14, when they were arrested.
