FRIENDS of a Bordon woman diagnosed with terminal cancer have arranged a charity night in her honour.

Anita Brown, 45, was recently told she has terminal bladder cancer and, with friends and family, has set about raising funds for the Midhurst Macmillan Specialist Palliative Care Service.

As part of this effort there will be a 1980s-themed Christmas party on Friday at the Bordon and Oakhanger Sports Club in Bolley Avenue at 7pm.

Juliet Marlow said the theme had been chosen because her friend Anita, a fan of the festive period, fears she might not see another Christmas.

Despite her diagnosis, Anita has tried to stay positive. “My lovely friends have had purple love hearts tattooed on their fingers or wrists in honour of little old me and right now I am having a fantastic time,” she said.

“My son set up a Go Fund Me page so I can live out a few small dreams, driving a Lamborghini and having a huge shopping trip. We hit the target of £1,000 in 24 hours and now any more money that is raised is going to go to my local Midhurst Macmillan centre for their lovely help and support for all my family.”

Anita’s chemotherapy started on Monday.

“So now I wait, so now I try and carry on with my life as I don’t know how long I have,” she said.

“And the problem with small cell cancer is that it may well respond to the chemotherapy but it will come back. I’m going to have six sessions of chemo, however after three sessions I will be rescanned and if the tumour has not stopped growing or shrunk, then I shall stop with the treatment. My life’s all ‘if’ and ‘perhaps’ right now.”
