ST Matthew’s Primary School has celebrated 150 years since it was set up by the 1st Earl of Selborne in 1869.
A birthday party marking the occasion was organised by children in Years 5 and 6. As well as reflecting on what the school means to them, they played games which have been popular throughout the school’s 150 years, imagined what life would be like at St Matthew’s in 150 years time and designed a product they might need then.
Visitors were also invited to see an exhibition, looking at life 150 years ago, collecting memories of past pupils and teachers, and completing their own census to compare to 1871!
