A nursery in Alton received a Strong Standard rating in every area from Ofsted inspectors.

They were reporting on the First Friends Day Nursery, which is located on the same site as the Wootey infant and junior schools.

This was the nursery’s first inspection since 2022 and the first to be carried out under Ofsted’s new inspection framework.

Strong Standard means the nursery consistently delivers high-quality practice that goes beyond the expected standard and is making a significant difference to children's learning, development and well-being.

The inspectors praised its dedicated staff, ambitious curriculum and nurturing environment, recognising the exceptional care and education for children aged from six months to five years.

Their report said children at First Friends "thrive" and are "very well prepared for the next stage of learning and starting school".

The report highlighted the nursery's strong relationships with families and the local community. The inspectors praised partnerships developed with parents and the Wootey schools, which improved children's confidence and readiness for transition to school.
