The school governors asked them to write to the Queen with a letter or a poem to congratulate her on her 70 years as our monarch.
They had to do the work in their own time and make sure it was their very best – and the governors were delighted to receive a huge number of entries.
The best entries have been sent to Her Majesty and the school is hoping for a reply.
The Governors’ Writing Award challenge is a regular part of school life at Selborne, which encourages pupils to write independently in their spare time.
Those children who earn three awards are invited to afternoon tea with some of the governors.
The school is also celebrating some impressive SATS results.
The Year 6 children worked so hard they exceeded the national average expected scores by more than 20 per cent. The school is delighted with their achievement and thanked the hard work of all the teachers, children and parents.
