THE chairman of East Hampshire District Council has threatened to resign in the wake of the failure of a vote of no confidence in Ken Moon last week.
Pat Seward, the district councillor for Four Marks and Medstead, has vowed to go if Mr Moon is ousted in a leadership challenge and David Parkinson, the favoured candidate among some Tories, takes on the job several years after he gave up the post after less than 12 months in the hotseat.
Ferris Cowper, who himself was ousted by the party in a vote of no confidence in 2009 in a coup led by Mr Parkinson, is understood to have thrown his cap in the ring as deputy leader if Mr Moon is ousted.
"I will not be working under David or Ferris and will resign immediately for chair, district and the party," said an infuritated Mrs Seward.
