Phil Troubridge – landlord of the Eight Bells in Church Street, Alton, a long-standing CAMRA Good Beer Guide entrant – was presented with his certificate for winning the East Hants CAMRA Pub of the Year award by branch chair Julie Nicholson on May 3.

The Eight Bells beat around 50 other real ale serving pubs in the branch area to win this coveted award.

Judges recognised not only the quality of the beer provided – including local ales from the Flower Pots Brewery in Cheriton – but also the Eight Bells’ function as a “much valued community local, a haven for conversation and socialising”.
