ILLEGAL parking could be a thing of the past in Alton after East Hampshire District Council and the police coughed up £10,000 between them to help stamp out the growing problem.

Shoppers and visitors have been warned they will get a hefty fine if caught on double yellow lines or ignoring parking restrictions after EHDC and the constabulary agreed to the extra funding of police officers.
