Hart Male Voice Choir raised more than £1,000 for Dementia Friendly Alton in a concert at the Alton Assembly Rooms on July 7.

The singers’ powerful voices entertained a large audience including people living with dementia and their carers.

A varied programme of choral music, songs from musicals, hymns and pop meant there was something for everyone.

All joined in enthusiastically in the second half as musical director Kevin Jacot conducted everyone for numbers including Take Me Home, Country Roads and Amen.

A choir spokesperson said: “Singing as a group is known to broaden social networks and improve physical and mental health through improved breathing and posture and reduced muscle tension.”

Hart Male Voice Choir rehearses every Wednesday evening in Odiham. For details visit https://hartmvc.org.uk/
