Local band Congakeyz will be playing at The Plough, Farnham for a free entry gig this Friday, April 12. They always put on a good mix of soul, pop and rock classics.

Also this Friday, Guildford Jazz has the multi-award-winning jazz guitarist Jim Mullen and his Organ Trio playing at The Stoke, Guildford.

On Thursday, April18 Guildford Jazz has Denny Ilett and the Chris Ingham Trio at Guildford Pavilion. Denny is a versatile guitarist/singer, encompassing swing, bebop, blues, rock and everything between. Together with Chris Ingham on piano, George Double on drums and Marianne Windham on bass. On Wednesday, April 17, ‘D3W3’ at Alton Rugby Club is bringing three bands together to entertain. Tim Shez, Lyke and The Eclectics together to form a triple headline for one evening.

A monthly open mic starts at The Shed, Bordon on Thursday, April 18. It will be hosted by Aly Duff of Backbeat Collective and supported by Tap At The Shed. The aim is to create a place where performers, artists and musicians can network, collaborate, and grow together.

On Friday, April 19, Anton Browne, Sam Walker and Terry Pack are playing at the Strange Fruit jazz club at Gallery No. 30 in Petersfield.

Among a number of musical enterprises they are involved with, Anton is a vocal coach at the Brits, Sam organises the Jazz & Blues Retreats and Terry leads the Full Circle Quartet. They will also be performing at the Petersfield Jazz Festival on June 1. Tickets £17 at www.strangefruitjazz.com

A reminder that on Sunday, April 21, Steve Brookes is playing a selection of blues, soul and pop at the Hare and Hounds, Rowledge. Starts at 5.30pm. Free entry.

Also on Sunday, April 21 the West End Social Club, Woking has an Americana/Country Rock live music session from 2.30pm. Non-members £3. Info on 07783 518771. On Monday, April 22, Grayshott Folk Club has rock/pop/folk band The Leisure Society playing. They are returning as a popular act at the club. Brian Player’s Folk, Roots and Acoustic music show is every Tuesday evening. It’s on at 8pm on Wey Valley radio and is on 101.1FM or online at www.weyvalley.uk
