WAR on the Line may have fallen off the rails for another year – but the Watercress Line has announced a new event to take its place.

Visitors to the Fun on the Line in 39 special event, to be held on April 9 and 10 and 15 to 18 can travel back in time and find out about the role of the railway during the late 1930s.

With unlimited steam train travel along the ten-mile line each day, there will be plenty of opportunities to hop on and off at all the Watercress Line’s heritage stations between Alton and Alresford.

There will be a host of friendly characters along the route, and children can tackle an interactive trail sheet, presented by the Historical Huzzahs.

Children can also enjoy the locomotive playground and refreshments and picnic areas are available.
