A PROPOSED shake up on plant legislation by the European Commission has prompted the owner of Selborne's Lavender fields to say he fears the move could put him "out of business along with many other growers".

Speaking on Wednesday, Tim Butler's fears follow the news that one of the plants the European Commission wants to stop being sold in Britain is the lavandula hidcote - the variety he grows at Hartley Park Farm and on which his business is founded.
