The “delighted” headteacher of Heath End School has hailed the class of 2026 as there was a massive leap in top marks on GCSE results day.

It’s been an incredible summer at the North Farnham school with pupils notching up 120 Grade 9 results.

That’s nearly the double the 66 recorded in 2025, with Year 11 student Pearl Pradhan top of the class with a phenomenal set of straight Grade 9s.

She said: “My parents don’t know yet but I’m sure they are going to very happy.

“My uncle owes me a lot of money as he said he would give £20 for every nine I got. He is going to make me rich.”

Just over 70 per cent of students achieved Grades 9 to 4 in both English and Maths while more than half got 9 to 5 in the same subjects.

Some 14 students - Zoe Selby, Emma Coates, Amelie Read, Lottie Fry, Lincoln Woods, Samara Choudhury, Ben Hurst, Libby Swatton, George Twitchin, Eva Beynon, Sophie Donovan, Laila Gale, Shanaya Sud - secured an average grade of 8 or higher across their results.

“I did not think I was going to get a nine in physics,” said Lottie Pearl after collecting her results.

“I was very proud of myself. When I told my parents they were cheering at the end of the phone and they were really pleased for me.”

“Today’s results are a true reflection of the ambitious, supportive culture we have every day,” said Principal, Stuart Maginnis, before thanking parents, carers and his “outstanding staff” for their support and dedication.

“These outcomes are a direct testament to the remarkable hard work, resilience, and determination of our students - success is always a collective effort.

“I hope that these great results will be a springboard for even more success in the coming years.”
