Farnham students nurtured to A-level success

Farnham College students have been celebrating their A-level results with a 94 per cent pass rate, up one per cent on last year.

In eight of 17 A-level subjects offered by the college, students achieved 100 per cent pass rates, with particularly strong performances in Maths, Psychology and Sociology. The Art and Design and Geography departments were celebrating as all their students had passed for the third year running.

Jake Temple was Farnham College's top achiever, with an A* in Psychology, A in Biology and A in History. He is now off to the University of Leeds to study Electronic and Electrical Engineering BEng.

Another high achiever was Edward Wilson, who gained an A* in History and a B in Mathematics and will study History at University of Warwick.

He said: “I'm just overjoyed with being accepted into my first-choice university and I'm grateful to Farnham College for this.

“I got: A* in History and B in Maths today, combined with a C in Physics I got last year.”

He praised the college, particularly for its “nice nurturing atmosphere” and said he would recommend the college, “especially to those looking for a smaller and more supportive college environment”.

Milan Limbu was also full of praise for the college which he said has “some of the most helpful teachers I’ve ever met”.

Their help, he said, meant that he could achieve his goals and he attained an A in Mathematics, A in Art and Design (3D Design and Architecture) and a C in Physics. He will now take a gap year before going to the University of Southampton to study Mechanical Engineering/Automotive with Industrial Placement.

Milan said: “I thoroughly enjoyed all three subjects, but Maths was my favourite because it is just fascinating to apply numbers to real-life problems”.
